Mysterious, interesting, fun, confusing, secretive, social, exciting. These are some of the words that my students used today to describe what they think Globaloria is. "But what is it really?" Nick asked. I could only tell him," It will all be revealed next week." (After you all return the permission to use the computer forms so I can let you do the Globaloria survey!) I think my evasiveness unintentially is lending a mystique to the whole class. I like that.
I have 12 great students in the class; some who know each other, others who are coming together for the first time. We worked a lot on creating our Globaloria community today. We took a group photo. We paired up to start Globaloria posters. We were able to generate answers to "What makes you feel safe, secure, comfortable in a learning community?" Students talked about knowing everyone, feeling respected, having something in common, everyone engaged and working to a common purpose. I believe that the team building time today will strengthen our ability to work together tomorrow.
It sounds like you had a great class. I like the idea of a group photo and the Globaloria posters. I think you are already fostering what will become a close knit community.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm jealous of your students. That sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI love the team building that is already happening, that is great!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a great class Liz! I had a very similar experience in my first class. I love the way not being able to do much yet actually helped build intrigue!!! Very exciting!
