First Day of class

Mysterious, interesting, fun, confusing, secretive, social, exciting. These are some of the words that my students used today to describe what they think Globaloria is. "But what is it really?" Nick asked. I could only tell him," It will all be revealed next week." (After you all return the permission to use the computer forms so I can let you do the Globaloria survey!) I think my evasiveness unintentially is lending a mystique to the whole class. I like that.

I have 12 great students in the class; some who know each other, others who are coming together for the first time. We worked a lot on creating our Globaloria community today. We took a group photo. We paired up to start Globaloria posters. We were able to generate answers to "What makes you feel safe, secure, comfortable in a learning community?" Students talked about knowing everyone, feeling respected, having something in common, everyone engaged and working to a common purpose. I believe that the team building time today will strengthen our ability to work together tomorrow.

  1. It sounds like you had a great class. I like the idea of a group photo and the Globaloria posters. I think you are already fostering what will become a close knit community.

  4. Sounds like it was a great class Liz! I had a very similar experience in my first class. I love the way not being able to do much yet actually helped build intrigue!!! Very exciting!
